「氣」在人的身上，形成氣質。
「氣」是看不見的，
然而「質」卻看得見。
如果說「氣」屬「無」，
那麼「質」便是「有」。
大自然從「無」的
「志氣」或「氣息」，
產生出「有」的
「品質」或「品格」。
萬物都有「氣」，
因而都能「生」。
“Qi’ in human body forms temperament. “Qi” is invisible, while “substance” is visible. If it is said that “qi” belongs to “non-being,” then “substance” is “being.” By “the willpower of the vital force” or “the breath of the vital energy” of “non-being,” nature generates “the quality” or “the character” of “being.” All things possess “qi;” therefore, they live.
《易經》乾卦為天，表示大自然的運行，不但具有意志，而且剛健不息，所以才說「天行健」。天的意志，形成一種信息，傳達給人類，要我們培養出「浩然之氣」，務求「自強不息」。如此天人相應，便是「天人合一」所展現的具體功效。
In I Ching, the Khien Hexagram signifies Heaven, indicating that the movement of nature not only possesses the willpower but also exerts the “yang” principle to continue endlessly. That is why we say “Heaven moves eternally.” The willpower of Heaven forms and sends a message to humans, urging us to cultivate and enter “the energy flow of the cosmic force,” and to aim for “being self-reliant and forever strong.” Such intercommunion of Heaven and humans does fulfill the concrete effect of “the unity of Heaven and humans.”
